Yet, recognizing FFA’s preference to keep a Kiwi team in the league, TFA withdrew with plans of their own to apply as an expansion franchise under the name “Northern Thunder FC.” Although their bid was shelved after expansion plans were canceled, TFA’s North Queensland Thunder remained a poignant reminder of the competitive spirit and aspirations driving the A-League’s evolution.
